Each year Benold has students
submit Veterans Day Essays for a school contest. Julia Bobinger
won for 6th grade; Caylee Kidwell won for 7th grade; Sutton
Kinslow won for 8th grade.
Benold also had two 8th graders
who won a middle school competition. Shaelyn Fisher won 1st
prize and a $500 savings bond from the Retired Chiefs of Austin;
she will read her essay at the capital ceremony on November
11th. Misael Romero took 3rd prize and won a $100 savings bond.

2009-2010 Duke
University – 7th Grade Talent Search
–
Duke University welcomes participation in
their Annual 7th Grade Talent Search – now in
its thirtieth year. It is the largest program of its
kind in the nation, representing
participation from nearly 6,000 junior high and middle
schools in the Duke TIP 16-state
region. The Talent Search identifies academically
talented 7th graders based on standardized
test scores achieved while attending elementary or
middle school.
Candidates are identified and invited to complete either
the SAT Reasoning Test or
the ACT Assessment college entrance examination. Duke
TIP then provides the
participants with comparative information concerning
their academic abilities and
resources for unique educational opportunities.

Barn hours are: Monday,
Wednesday, Friday 8:15-8:35 and Wednesday 11:15-1:15.
T-shirts, hoodies, novelty items and school
supplies are available for your shopping pleasure. In
addition, $5.00 Barn (punch) cards are available for
those spur of the moment necessities.
