    Dave is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he was also a two sport letter winner in football and lacrosse. Following a successful business career that culminated in the sale of his specialty surgical equipment company, he entered the education field. Dave is National Board certified in secondary science and has taught high school for fifteen years. For 13 of those years he has taught physics at the AP and Pre AP levels.  Twice Dave has been nominated by one of his students and been honored for his classroom work.

    Coach Walla is also in his twelfth year as a girls basketball head coach, nine of which were spent at Lake Norman HS in North Carolina. Over eleven seasons which included two start up programs at new schools, his teams have compiled a 209-139 record . In the first two varsity seasons at East View, the Lady Patriots have compiled a 46-49 record. In their second varsity season, the team went 25-9 and reached the Area round of the state playoffs. Dave also has coached summer league basketball where his teams have won state championships and reached as far as elite eight at the national level. Coach Walla has also coached football, soccer, lacrosse, and track at the high school level. In his high school coaching career, Dave has received 4 coach of the year awards.
