He was later awarded a Master of Science degree in International Relations from Troy University and was most recently awarded a Master of Arts degree (with distinction) in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.

CAPT Anthony served as a Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy for over 26 years. During that time he served in numerous ships including USS SHREVEPORT (LPD 12), USS FAIRFAX COUNTY (LST 1193), USS SENTRY (MCM 3), USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13) and USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13). In May 2005, CAPT Anthony assumed Command of USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49) forward deployed in Sasebo Japan. Under his leadership, HARPERS FERRY was awarded the Golden Anchor for record reenlistments. He deployed his ship in support of numerous multi-national operations and exercises in the western Pacific.

In 2006, HARPERS FERRY participated in multiple Humanitarian missions including delivery of emergency medical vehicles and supplies to Zamboanga City in the Philippines, and emergent support to international disaster relief efforts following the devastating mud slides on the island of Leyte.

In 2008, CAPT Anthony was assigned as Chief of Staff, Standing NATO Maritime Group Two. Upon request of the U.N. CAPT Anthony's shore duty assignments include; Director of Global Resources for U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa, Naples Italy; Strategy Analyst for Joint Forces Command and Project officer for the stand-up of NATO Headquarters Command, Madrid Spain.

During his four year tenure, the unit doubled in size and consistently ranked in the top 5 out of 59 units in the State in Drill Competition, while the Academics team has placed 2nd in the State for two years in a row and, most recently, earned the opportunity to be one of only eight Navy teams in the nation to compete in the Joint Leadership Academic Bowl Championship in Washington DC, winning 3rd place overall. Over the past four years, he has helped a total of 13 cadets receive full ROTC scholarships to universities around the nation, including Texas A&M University, University of Texas, University of South Carolina and Florida State University. He has also assisted his senior cadets in obtaining over $2.6 million in public, private and federal scholarship offerings.

Captain Anthony's awards include the Legion of Merit (two awards) Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), various campaign medals and service awards.
