TOPIC:  Freshman Girls Basketball

Congratulations to our Freshman Blue and White Basketball Teams! The Freshman Blue Team is off to a fast 3-0 start. Last week on Monday, they defeated Waco Midway 53 – 42, then on Friday, defeated Pflugerville Henrickson 61 – 7. Last night they defeated Waco University 75 – 5

The Freshman White Team competed in the Dripping Springs ("A" Team) Tournament this past weekend and received 5th place. Their scores were 42 – 29 against Hays Consolidated, 17 – 21 against Liberty Hill, and 32 – 20 against Hutto.

Both teams are in tournament play this weekend with the Blue Team at Austin Bowie and the White Team at Vista Ridge - GOOD LUCK!  

TOPIC:  PTSA Reflections

Congratulations to all the students who recently participated in GHS PTSA Reflections Program.  NGC students Kaela Ruiz’s visual arts entry and Mariah Ochoa’s literature entry are advancing to the next level of the program where they will be reviewed along with students’ work from surrounding area high schools. Many thanks on behalf of PTSA to all of the very talented students who participated this year and to our wonderful NGC fine arts teachers. Stay tuned for updates on these students’ creations as they advance to state and possibly national levels of Reflections.

 

TOPIC:  Cafeteria

Starting Dec. 1, you will not be allowed to charge in the cafeteria during the month of December. Also, all charges will need to be paid.

TOPIC:  Driver Education

Any students with permits who want to take the driving part of driver education need to come to the driver ed classroom to sign up or have your parents email Mr. Swain. There will be driving during the holidays.

TOPIC:  Varsity Football

The Georgetown Eagles varsity football team is in the state playoffs for the first time since 1999! The team will be playing their Bi-District playoff game vs. Cypress Woods HS on Saturday, Nov. 15th at Kyle Field - Texas A & M University in College Station at 3:00.

TOPIC:  Pre-AP Geometry Students

If you made an “A” in Algebra One, you qualify to join Georgetown High School’s Mu Alpha Theta Chapter as an associate member. Applications are available from your Geometry teacher. Please complete the application and turn it in with $10 dues to the Mu Alpha Theta

sponsor, Mrs. Muesse, in room 221 at the NGC. The application deadline is Wed., Nov. 19.

The next class for driver ed will start on Nov 17th at 4:15 pm. Come to the driver ed classroom at GHS with paper, pen and a check for $100 made out to GHS. You can not miss the first class.

TOPIC:  Varsity Football

The Georgetown Eagles varsity football team is in the state playoffs for the first time since 1999! Come help celebrate this achievement and send the team off to victory at the Community Wide Pep Rally! Join us on Thursday at 7:00 pm in the GISD Stadium!

 

The team will be playing their Bi-District playoff game vs. Cypress Woods HS on Saturday, Nov. 15th at Kyle Field - Texas A & M University in College Station at 3:00. Advance tickets

for the game will be available at the front receptionist’s desk through Thursday afternoon. Student tickets are $4 and adult tickets are $7. All tickets will be $8 at the gate on Saturday.

TOPIC:  Winterguard Auditions

Reminder: Winterguard Auditions  will be from 4:30-7:30 pm on Thursday.  We are looking for both boys and girls that are hard workers, interested in learning about colorguard and dance, wanting to meet friends, and having a desire to perform with a very successful group on campus.  Come by either the NGC or GHS Dance Studio to get an audition packet and see Mr. Scruggs or Ms. Melendez if you have any questions.

Freshman, Daniel Bell, lead the JV golf team to a 5th place finish at the Blackhawk Golf Tournament played in Pflugerville.

TOPIC:  Student Council

There will be a Student Council meeting tomorrow morning at 8:10 a.m. in Mr. Morris’ room, #215. All members need to attend.

Tomorrow our cafeteria company (Sodexo), would like your help to provide food for The Caring Place and set a Guinness World Record for the largest Food Drive by a Non-charitable Organization in a 24 hour Period in multiple locations.

 

How can students get involved? Please bring canned food items from now until November 12 to your 2nd or 6th period teacher.  On November 12, students can take their cans to the cafeteria.  All students that bring a can will receive a free cookie coupon.

 

The goal is to collect 396,832 lbs. of food to combat hunger in our community from all Sedexo schools.  Please help if you can!

 

 

TOPIC:  National Junior Honor Society

Attention all National Junior Honor Society members, anyone who was inducted last year is still a member.  We will have a mandatory meeting this Thursday, November 13th at 8:15am in the Lecture Hall.  All NJHS members are expected to make every effort to attend.  We will be discussing upcoming officer elections and member duties for the year.

The Lady Eagle Basketball Teams begin their season tonight at home facing Waco Midway. Please come out and support your Lady Eagles! Game times are Freshman 5:30, JV 5:30, and Varsity at 7:00. All games will be played at the High School.

TOPIC:  Eagle Swimmers

Three freshman have been selected as Eagle Swimmers of the Month. The criteria for this award involve 5 steps:  time improvements, practice percentage, positive work ethic, challenge sets, and voted for by captains and coaches. Congratulations to Neil Lemcke, Shelby Prater, and Autumn Allen for being chosen as Eagle Swimmers of the Month.

 

 

TOPIC:  Meet the Eagles

Come out to Meet the Eagles tonight at 5:30 to see the first men’s varsity basketball scrimmage of the year! Cheer on your favorite players in this classic blue versus white match-up! Admission is free and so are the hotdogs! You can try to win free pizza for a year at a half-time shoot out! See you there Thursday night!

 

 

TOPIC:  Winterguard Competition

The Georgetown HS Color Guard will be holding auditions for the Winterguard Competition Teams on Thursday, November 13th from 4:30 to 7:30 in the GHS Dance Studio.  There will be two mandatory audition practices on Tuesday, November 11th and Wednesday, November 12th from 4:30 to 7:00 in the Dance Studio at the high school campus.  All prospective candidates must attend both rehearsals prior to auditions.  Students wishing to audition for this fast paced and high profile performance group should contact Mr. Scruggs at the main campus or Ms. Melendez at the Ninth Grade Center for an audition packet.
