In the Spring of 2013, Georgetown ISD committed to issuing an iPad to every certified teacher in the district. The purpose of this investment in technology resources for teaching and learning was two-fold:
- To put more technology into the hands of teachers and students.
- To prepare elementary teachers for teaching with small sets of iPads in their classrooms, and to prepare secondary teachers for a Fall 2013 Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative.
The ultimate purpose for bringing mobile technologies into GISD classrooms is to increase student investment and achievement in the learning process by inviting them to participate in a technology-rich environment. Technology is engaging to the students of today, therefore we have chosen Engage! as the theme of our new technology initiatives.
