    Dear Parents:

My name is Stephen Walker and I am your child’s 8th grade U.S. History teacher.  I am very excited to be a part of your child’s educational experience and look forward to working with you and your child.

This is my fifth year teaching at Benold MS and I am very excited to be at such a wonderful and engaging campus.  I received my teaching certification through Texas State and I am certified in Social Composite, History, Business and PE.  I grew up in Southern California but came to Texas about 10 years ago and love living in the Lone Star State.   History was always my favorite subject in school and I am hopeful that I can pass my passion for understanding where we come from to your student.

I realize that teaching your child is a tremendous opportunity and I will do my best to ensure each student has a safe and motivating learning experience. However, I cannot do this without the help of you, the parents. We are partners in the learning process. I believe that parent-teacher relationships are essential for student success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, phone calls, remind text (if you have signed up), emails, progress reports and parent teacher conferences. I strongly recommend signing up for our Skyward service as well.  This allows parents and students to follow along with assignments as they are graded and lets you see your current overall grades.  You will find step by step instructions for signing up for Skyward under the "parents" tab on the Benold home page.   I am always happy to talk to the families of my students.   If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call, send a note, send an email, or set up a meeting.  As I am usually with students, email is often the best and easiest way to communicate with me. My email address is walkers@georgetownisd.org.  I can also be reached at the school by phone. My phone number is (512) 943-5000 ext. 6957
