When I choose to become a wrestler I realize that this is a voluntary act, fullyknowing that hard work and dedication will be a requirement in order toattain success. I realize that wrestlers are elite athletes and I will do everything that I can to uphold this standard.
Readily, I will display the heart and stamina required to wrestle to the best ofmy ability each and every time that I step onto the mat.
Energetically, I will meet my opponents, willing to do anything that I can, withinthe rules of the sport, in order to gain victory.
Seriousness will be part of my match day armor. I will always carry myself in sucha way as to let people know that I am to be taken seriously and that my numberone priority is to become a champion.
Total respect for teachers, administrators, officials and anyone else in authoritywill be expected of me and adhered to by me at all times.
Learning the sport will be one of my main goals. I know that winning is great, but losing can also be a learning experience.
Everyone that I come into contact with will know that I am a winner and thatI will never be satisfied with anything but my very best.
Responsibility to my team and myself will be of utmost priority. I will be ableto look in the mirror and honestly say, “I have not cheated you today!”The Wrestler’s Creed is not an empty statement and is not taken lightly bymembers of this great sport. The Creed is a way of life that sets wrestlersapart from standard, ordinary athletes.
