Mrs. Bregitta Dreibrodt

I am so excited that I am going to be teaching 4th Grade Science this year! This will be my 20th year in GISD and I am so thankful that I get to work with the awesome teachers and scholars here at McCoy!

I started kindergarten in Aviano, Italy. I later moved back to the United States. I graduated from Elgin High School in 1988. I moved to the Houston area and attended San Jacinto Junior College. At this time I worked as a live-in nanny for  [then] United States Astronaut Kathy Thornton.  After graduating with an Associate in Spanish, I transferred to The University of Texas in Austin. I graduated from UT with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. I later attended Southwest Texas State where I received a Masters in Education, with a Special Education Endorsement.

My husband Darrell and I were married in 1996 and moved to Georgetown, Texas. I started working as a special education teacher at Benold Middle School. Then I became the Reading/Dyslexia teacher for that campus. I later transferred to McCoy Elementary, where I continued to work as a Dyslexia Interventionist. Then I taught second grade and this will be my second year teaching 4th grade science!

I have two children who attend GISD. My son, Derek, is a junior at GHS and is pursuing a career in business/entrepreneurship. He is currently an intern at A+ Credit Union. My daughter, MaKenna, will be in 8th grade at Benold Middle School. Her talent is definitely in expressing herself, as she has won multiple UIL Oral Reading competitions in the district. Additionally, she plays volleyball and basketball at Benold - Go Eagles! We also have a furry family member, our dog Mac. His specialty is guarding our house! When my husband and I first moved to Georgetown, it was our dream that we could raise our kids in a wonderful community. We feel so blessed to be a part of this community and are thankful for everything it has to offer our family!
