Extra Credit (Due Oct.24) - {Mole Day = 10-23} - make a mole - (pattern 1pattern 2pattern 3)     Description • The mole extra credit project is optional. Late moles will NOT be accepted. • Students will design and construct a “punny” mole. •example: Hannah Moletanna.  Why a Mole? • The mole is the official mascot of chemistry. • This delightful little creature was selected because of the importance of the mole concept in chemistry. • Just like 1 dozen = 12 of something, 1 mole of a substance is equal to 6.02 x 10^23 somethings. • Mole Day is celebrated by chemists worldwide on October 23 (10/23) from 6:02 am to 6:02 pm. • The National Mole Day Foundation’s website: http://www.moleday.org/ selects an annual theme for Mole Day. Directions • Decide on a “punny” mole idea. • Create a 3D mole (see links above for pattern). • Creativity, careful execution, and attention to detail • You may drop your mole off early in the morning before the start of classes if you wish on the date it is due. • Attach a sticky note in a bag labeled with the following information to your mole: o Your Name o Your Mole’s Name o Your Class Period
