    My Education & Teaching Background

I attended Southwestern University here in Georgetown, Texas.  My first year teaching, I taught 3rd grade in Bastrop, Texas.  From there, I spent four years in Round Rock teaching 3rd and 2nd, before coming to Georgetown.  For five years, I taught Kindergarten at Carver, before coming to Pickett to teach 3rd.  This is my sixth year at Pickett and I am thrilled to be here!
I live in Georgetown with my husband and our two children.  Sydney is ten, in 5th grade.  John Patrick is eight and in 3rd grade this year.  My family and I love going to ballet and theater performances, museums, and theme parks.  We also have a Catahoula Leopard dog / Great Dane mix rescue dog named Nola Gray who is certainly a member of the family.

    My Philosophy of Education

I believe every student can and should love coming to school and be successful in their learning.  To achieve that goal, I encourage students to be responsible for their education and experience as much independence as possible.  The physical space of my classroom is very student-centered with many different seating options and very few desks.  The flow of the day is also geared for students with lots of choice in when and how to learn.  I know that is a lot of freedom for eight (and nine) year old students, so I will spend most of the first nine weeks purposefully teaching self-management skills and establishing procedures and routines that will ensure student success.
If you ever have a question or concern, please give me a call or send me an e-mail.  You are the expert on your child and I am counting on your help and support this year and want you to know that I will help and support you as well.  It takes a village to raise a child, and I am thrilled to be a part of your child's village!
