    I'm very excited to be teaching AP Language & Composition this year!

    Students or parents who would like to get reminders about major tests and assignments through Remind, please open up a new text message. Send the message to 81010. In the message put the following:

    @fh3h7

    I have taught Pre-AP English for the past few years, but this will be my first year to teach AP Language & Composition.  I will be working very closely with Master AP teacher, Tamara Scholtz.  She does an excellent job of keeping her website up to date with links and assignments.  I don't know that I will be able to keep up a website as beautifully as she does, so please feel free to check her site here if you are looking for something specific. :)

    I do share the same policies as Mrs. Scholtz regarding late work.  There are no late homework assignments accepted in Mrs. Searight's AP English classes. Class is dependent on students having the work finished for activities during the class period.  Additionally, I have found that allowing late assignments contributes to student's procrastination and that constant deductions for late work are harmful to students' overall averages.

    To mitigate the damages of forgotten homework, at the end of the nine weeks,  I will drop a minimum of the two lowest daily grades. With this policy, students who have two or three mistakes will not face adverse consequences.

    Students may do one extra credit test per nine weeks to mitigate a poor test grade. (See below)

    EXTRA CREDIT: COMPLETE BY THE LAST WEDNESDAY OF EACH NINE WEEKS.  You must read the book and complete and MWDS for the book of your choice.

    Extra credit tests are a REPLACEMENT for IN CLASS TEST grades ONLY. Students may take an extra credit test as an EXTRA grade to mitigate the damage from outside of class assignments.

    Students may take one extra credit test per nine weeks.  Almost all extra credit books can be found in OUR LIBRARY.  Many are available as free downloads.

    You will come in before or after school, submit your MWDS and take a 50 or 100- question objective test concerning one of the following novels:

    English III AP

    The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
