• The Hue Poem, which was assigned last Thursday, is due on this Thursday, September 28. Remember that you must submit the rubric you were given along with your poem. On the rubric you need to write the pronouns and similes/metaphor you used in your poem. To fill out pronoun part, use the Pronoun Reference sheet, which should be glued in your journal.

Today, we read an excerpt from An American Childhood by Annie Dillard (found in Texas Treasures (red) textbook starting on page 390. The excerpt qualifies as a personal narrative. We analyzed the plot of the narrative (filled out a plot diagram) and also its use of the characteristics of a personal narrative (second handout). This was done in preparation for the planning and drafting of our own personal narratives this week.

    Homework:

Review notes and paste them into notebook. (There are two pages of notes, so paste them on opposite pages from each other.)

    Today we did two stations:

In station 1, students joined our class on Google Classroom, where they completed a review/practice quiz for "Highwayman" (actual quiz on 10/3).

Here are the class codes for Google Classroom pages:

    Period 6: 9rplwj

    Period 7: fimi9q

In station 2, students responded to a writing prompt. If they did not finish, they had to do it for homework and bring it back the next day.
