Texas Bluebonnet Books
The students in grades three, four and five are invited to read the Texas Bluebonnet books. The Bluebonnets are a list of 20 books which the Texas Librarian Association recommends students read throughout the year. The books span across all the genres and reading levels.Students at Ford Elementary that read the 20 Bluebonnets will receive an invitation to our Bluebonnet lunch and a special reading award in May. Students record their progress on the Texas map. Parents and students also need to sign to verify that they read all the books. The completed maps are due on Friday, May 4, 2018.
Students are also encouraged to try-out for our Battle of the Books team. The team commits to reading 10 of the Bluebonnets (list of 10 books can be found under the Battle of the Books tab). The team practices and then competes in the district-wide Battle of the Books. The try-outs will take place in January. Students must read at least 8 of the books on the Battle list to try-out.EIGHT BOOKS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THIS YEAR'S BLUEBONNET LIST!
