Welcome to Mrs. Bashara's home page! I am excited to be teaching 8th grade U.S. History at Benold Middle School. This will be a busy and exciting year for our class. We will begin our studies with the discovery of America and progress through the Civil War and Reconstruction by June. Covering 400 years in a few short months will be an exciting trip indeed!
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
I am a 2003 graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts
degree in History and a minor in Geography. I was named the History
Student of the Year and Supplemental Instructor of the Year while attending the
Texas State University Liberal Arts Department. I have an extreme passion
for teaching adolescents at the middle school level and for inspiring my students to
develop a love of history. I believe you will come to understand my
enthusiasm for teaching history throughout the year.
A few summers ago I was selected to travel to San Diego, CA to attend a workshop for a curriculum program called History Alive! In the past couple of years I have incorporated History Alive! strategies into my classes, and my students have excelled with the program. The pictures below may offer some insight into my classroom.
