Welcome to my home page! My name is
Alison Bencivenga and I am a 6th grade Social Studies
teacher at Benold Middle School.
More than any previous generation, today's
students will need preparation for a world where trade,
research, and communication will go far beyond our national
boundaries. Social Studies curriculum in 6th grade,
Contemporary World Societies, is designed to help
students understand and appreciate cultural similarities
and differences and what causes them to develop--important
tools for being successful in the global environment of the
future.
I am also the coordinator of the Peer
Mediation program. For information about Peer Mediation,
please click on the link above.
Some key information:
 |
Students must keep an up-to-date journal, which will
include notes
provided in class as well as assignments. Journals will be graded once each 9 weeks
for a test grade. The information
in their journals will be included on tests. |
 | Students are
encouraged to check with me or a reliable classmate after absences to
copy journal notes they have missed. |
 | Assignments will be posted in the classroom daily for
students. In addition, the assignments page
on this website will be updated weekly and will indicate any
assignments to be completed at home. |
 | Students should arrive in class with
their journals each day. They will also need a
black pen, dark blue pen, or #2 pencil for class. |
