NATIONAL FLAG OF MAURITANIA:

LOCATION:

            The French people colonized Mauritania. They treated the indigenous people horribly. The French wanted more African slaves to trade to the Berbers and the Arabs.

The French colonization hurt the indigenous people of Mauritania. It hurt them because  people didn’t want to be sold to some strangers that think that the land is theirs.The people that got sold got separated from their families.

In 1964 the Mauritanians declared their independence from France. They got their independence from France by making a government and the prime minister declared their independence from France. A year later the prime minister became president.

Once Mauritania became independent from France they faced problems. The problem they faced were racial problems. They also faced some ethnic problems. The government banned political parties. One of those parties tried to make debt relief but without success. The countries legislators have blamed the president for raising food prices and accused the government of corruption.
