click here to see our finished web pages! On Tuesday, January 22, each student will be assigned a specific country in Africa for our research project. Each student will receive a checklist for research, identifying the specific information students need to find.
click here for preAP checklist We will be in computer lab January 22-25 as students use links to internet sources as well as library books on a cart. Links appear below, and students are welcome and encouraged to use them at home if they are able. THEY SHOULD NOT USE ADDITIONAL SOURCES WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM ME. By the end of the week, students should have the information they need to write their responses. They will need to submit their rough drafts, triple-spaced in Microsoft Word, to me, no later than Tuesday, January 29. These will be edited and returned to students. We will be back in computer lab for the week of February 4. At that time students make the corrections I've indicated on the rough drafts, and complete their final products. The final product for this project will be a web page, and web pages that meet criteria will be published on the internet. Students will complete the final product using a template. Finished work will be due no later than Friday, February 8. Students who need additional time for research or creating their pages need to request recess passes before the final due date. The project will be weighted as a test/project grade. Points will be awarded as indicated on the project rubric. www.lonelyplanet.com/destinations (Lonely Planet) http://www.infoplease.com/countries.html (Countries of the World) http://www.cyberschoolbus.un.org/infonation/index.asp (Cyber Schoolbus: Countries at a Glance) http://www.africanet.com/home.htm (AfricaNet) http://www.1upinfo.com/encyclopedia/categories/afrhist.html (1UpInfo) http://www.geographia.com/indx06.htm (info on Botswana, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/country_profiles/default.stm (BBC News) http://www.library.northwestern.edu/africana/map/ (click on your country on this interactive map of Africa to access the Library of Congress information about your country!) http://www.africaguide.com/country.htm (the Africa Guide)
