Notebook Organization

7th Grade Math

Cover Sheet- This is the very first page of your notebook. It should have your name, Math-7, period, and your teacher’s name centered in the middle.

Example:                  John Doe

                                                Math- 7

                                                1st Period

                                                Teacher’s Name

Divider Tabs- You should have 5 tabs in your notebook. The tabs should be labeled and put in the following order:

bullet Special Forms
bullet Warm Ups/Homework
bullet Investigations/Notes
bullet Study Resources/Assessments
bullet Vocabulary

What is behind each tab?

  1. Special Forms- In this section keep your Gradesheet, Course Outline, Notebook Organization, TEKS for each 9 weeks, parent letters and any other important handouts given throughout the year that need to be kept in your notebook for reference.

  1. Warm Ups/Homework: Place graded warm ups behind this tab. This section should also include all homework and daily work that has been checked. Always keep this section in chronological order.

  1. Investigations/Notes- This section should include all work your do for in class assignments and any handouts that accompany them. Always keep this section in chronological order (the order in which it was done). To keep your work organized, date every entry and always title whatever we are working on for that day.

  1. Study Resources/Assessments- This section should include all quizzes, tests, and projects. It will also include any study resources, such as Study Guides for quizzes, etc., that you will want to use to help you study and prepare for upcoming tests.
  2. Vocabulary- You will create mathematical descriptions with examples of words you need to know. Leave plenty of extra room to add your ideas. This section is maintained throughout the year. DO NOT discard these important ideas.

è    In your in-class work, notes, and homework you will want to include words, charts, pictures, or anything else to show your thinking. This is for your reference as you solve in-class problems, answer homework questions, and prepare for quizzes and tests.

Notebook Checks:

You will be held accountable for your notebook with a Notebook Check each six weeks. It is used to assess that you have:

bullet Maintained an organized notebook.
bullet Kept your notes up to date, completing in-class assignments.
bullet Completed and corrected all homework assignments.
bullet Maintained up-to-date Vocabulary lists.
bullet Maintained all Special Forms.

I will check your notebook at unannounced times and grade will be given.
