The Medieval Mind and Milieu
An Seventh Grade Pathfinder

"The motto of chivalry is also the motto of wisdom; to serve all, but love only one."  (Honore de Balzac, French novelist, 1799 - 1850; The Quotations Page)

In preparation for the novel study on Jackaroo by Cynthia Voigt, students should acquire a basic understanding of the structure and personalities in medieval society. What were the realities of a time that includes chivalry and the noble quest, serfs and lords, villages and castles?

Students should refer to the outline and rubric to guide this project.
