Homework

I try to give plenty of class time for most assignments, but if work is not finished in class, then it needs to be finished at home.  It is important that this work get done at home so that we have more class time available for labs and hands on activities.  If work is not getting done outside of class, then more class time will be given for work instead of the labs and hands on activities.

Students have a planner to keep track of their homework in, please check this to see if they have any homework and encourage your student to use it to keep track of their assignments and up-coming tests.

Tutoring

I am available every morning from 8:15 - 8:35 for tutoring.  During lunch I am available during the first half of 5th period lunch (11:56-12:15) and the second half of 6th period lunch (1:10-1:30).

Absences

Students are responsible for coming to me and getting their make up work.  They have one day to complete the work for every day they were absent.  For any work due the day they were absent, it is due when then return to class.

Late work policy

-10 points one day late, -20 points second day late, -30 points third day late, 0 for any day after that.  The second zero will result in receiving a lunch detention to complete the missing work, and after three zero's accumulate in a nine weeks, an office referral will be written.

Grading policy

Daily work with worth 33%, tests and major grades are worth 67%.  There will be at least 12 grades a nine weeks with at least 3 being tests or major grades.  All students have a grade sheet that they should be keeping track of their grades on.  Please remember to check your student's grades online (log in and password can be obtained from the office) and if you have any questions about them please contact me.

Supplies

Every day students need to bring their science journal, science folder, and pen or pencil.  They do not need to bring their science book to class as we have a class set in the room.  They should use their science book at home.

Restroom policy

Every student is given 3 passes for the restroom/locker/water fountain/bubble for the nine weeks.  If all three passes get used it is up the the teacher's discretion to allow them to leave the room.
