A BRIEF HISTORY OF ZIMBABWE
In 1850 Rhodesia (modern day Zambia and Zimbabwe) became part of the British colonies. When they saw one of the ruined cities they thought it was the biblical city of Ophir. They tore up the cities looking for gold. The people were not treated well so in 1979 they declared independence from England.
In the 1920’s, Rhodesia became a self governing colony. In 1965 they declared independence from England. They made a Parliamentary democracy, similar to the British government. Northern Rhodesia had declared independence two years earlier. It was what made them decide to leave England.
The first problem they faced was when one of their presidents won
by a rigged election. The country politically went on a landslide. They now face
many problems. The country is in turmoil. Any tourists are
constantly in danger. There are lots of street gangs.
I think that if they hadn’t been colonized they might be more primitive. They
might also be more politically stable. They would probably be more than one
country. They might even be scattered tribes.
