A BRIEF HISTORY OF ANGOLA
The English country that colonized Angola was Portugal. They came in search of gold and slaves. They used three main tribes for slaves. The Orimbunda, Kimbunda, and the Bekongo.
The Portuguese coming to Angola actually hurt them more than helped them. The Portuguese used a huge percent of Angola's population for slaves. They stole the best native plantations and forced the previous owners to work for them on their own farmland. After they were finished with the land, they would burn it so the original owner couldn't use it again.
The country of Angola won over its independence by a series of small rebellions. The agencies that lead the last independence act were called the MPLA. The final act was also lead by UNITA. They gained it in the year 1975. Although they had independence, the wars did not stop.
They had a civil war almost immediately after the independence battle. Then they became a battleground for the cold war. Nowadays though, they are still at war! They had another civil war in 1988.
If the African country of Angola had never been colonized the native tribes would probably still be at war. The colonization helped the Angolans to be more thankful about their country. They might be overpopulated too.
