A BRIEF HISTORY OF KENYA
Great Britain colonized Kenya in 1890. The British were cruel to the people and tribes in Kenya. They were cruel to the Kenyans and held people as slaves and workers.
Colonization both helped and hurt the population of Kenya. The British brought the railway and different cultures and religions to the people. However, it was bad because the British kept slaves and brought disease and war with them.
Kenya won its independence from Great Britain on December 12, 1963 after rebelling against the British. A local leader, Jomo Kenyatta, was the first president after Kenya’s independence was won. He had previously been jailed by the British.
After the Kenyans gained their independence they had other problems such as civil war between ethnic groups, disease, and natural disasters like flooding and famine.
If the British still owned Kenya today, it would probably be stronger and have a better government. It would also have a more modern civilization.
