A BRIEF HISTORY OF TANZANIA
In 1886 Tanzania fell under German control. The Germans were forced to give Tanzania to the British because they lost World War I. In the 1960’s Tanzania got its independence from Britain.
In 1964 Tanzania’s name was United Republic of Tanganyika, but after six months the name was changed to United Republic of Tanzania.
