A BRIEF HISTORY OF KENYA
In the 1700’s the control of the coast was won back by the Arabs. During remainder of the 18th century they saw Omani dynasties from Persian Gulf who settled along the west coast. White settlers demanded fertile land, so the Maasai, were herded into small reserves.
The colonization hurt the indigenous people because they became slaves.
At first, white settlement in the early 20th century was bad, but once the British learned how to use the land, their colony worked well for them.
After the presidential election a fight broke out among the members of the Luo and Kikuyu tribes. In the fight against the tribes in January 2008 more than 800 people died across the country.
