A BRIEF HISTORY OF CÔTE D'IVOIRE
France colonized this country. Since the French people colonized here the main language is now French. The people who colonized this country were not very respectful to the people already living here. They just barged in and decided that they would now own this country. The people already there were not treated like they should have been.
I think colonization mostly hurt the indigenous people. The way it hurt them was by giving them very little land to grow crops in. This hurt them because with little crops the people did not have enough food to feed their families. The colonization did not help the people who lived in Côte D'Ivoire .
There are some problems Côte D'Ivoire still faces today. One of them is the fact that many towns are polluted. There is also a high level of violent attacks. There are many other problems in this country.
Côte D'Ivoire won its independence on August 7 1960. It won its independence right after World War II. The way they won it was by becoming an autonomous republic in the French Union.
I think that if the French people had not colonized there it might have given the people better land and a better life. They also might have been more ahead in technology then they are now. I think that if Europe did not colonize in Africa things would be a lot different there.
