A BRIEF HISTORY OF CAMEROON

My country is Cameroon. The Germans colonized it.

The Germans split Cameroon into three sections. They built schools, buildings and roads, so they sort of helped Cameroon, but they ruled harshly with slavery. They were so harsh that they would overwork the people there. Some ended up dying as the years went by.  They would also plant crops because they had good soil and nutrients. The people in Cameroon were so tired of colonization that by the year of 1961 the north of Cameroon voted to be a part of Nigeria and became a single republic.

Their president Ahidjo was re-elected and he continued filling jails with tens of thousands of political prisoners and censoring the press.

Today there are areas in Nigeria that should be avoided because of border issues and bandits.

I think that if the Germans didn’t colonize Cameroon there would be lots of people that didn’t die because of overwork. It also would be different because there would not be all those buildings and roads that the Germans built.
