A BRIEF HISTORY OF NAMIBIA
Many European nations tried to establish trade in this territory, including the Portuguese, the British, and the Dutch. Eventually in 1842, Germany established the Rhenish Mission. It expanded over time, encouraging Germany to claim the land. Once Germany had enough importance in what is now known as Namibia they enslaved the indigenous population.
German colonization definitely hurt the indigenous population. Germans used them as slaves.
In 1946 Namibia (Named South Africa at the time) refused to accept German authority. A group emerged named SWAPO that started small scale attacks to achieve independence. South Africa was officially renamed Namibia. In 1974 Germany was ready to negotiate Namibian independence. On March 21, 1990 Namibia won its independence.
Other than illnesses, no other problems have happened in Namibia.
If this country had never been colonized the indigenous tribes would probably rule present-day Namibia.
