A BRIEF HISTORY OF NIGER
Around the 1700’s, Niger was colonized by the French. They made a border between Niger and Nigeria. Before the French fully colonized Niger there were lots of bloody massacres and burning of villages. There were many years of the process to take over but the Africans continued to fight the French. Then the British came and helped the French troops and the Africans lost. Niger was now a French colony.
Niger then had fewer natural resources, and the French limited their investments for the people of Niger compared the other colonies taken over by France in West Africa. By 1946 Nigerians where granted their full citizenship but the participation in most politics was limited.
On September 28, 1958 the Nigerians approved their constitution from General De Gaulle for his fifth French Republic. After their independence they were a firm country. They then had a president. His name was President Hamani Diori. They then became a better country.
I think if it wasn’t colonized by the French there would be more blacks in Niger because of all the blacks that where slaughtered. So my opinion is that they would have been a better country and would have a bigger population now if it wasn’t colonized.
