Sixth Grade Hall

Language Arts

This is what the average language arts classroom looks like. During the sixth grade year regular classes reads three novels.  The first is called Tuck Everlasting, the second is called Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, and the third is called Out of the Dust. Students also do spelling, writing, grammar, and literature. There are regular and PreAp/GT classes.


Social Studies

This is an average social studies room. Students learn about world cultures, learn to respect other cultures, and make journals. A unit called "Geography Is Destiny" is particularly interesting. There are regular and PreAp/GT classes.


Math

In math students learn about decimals, fractions, percents, proportions (ratio), and problem solving. 72% of the 6th grade curriculum is new for students. There are regular, PreAp and GT classes.


Science

In science students learn about cells, the solar system, and biomes. Students make models of the solar system out of paper and draw models of a cells. There are regular and PreAp/GT classes.
