A BRIEF HISTORY OF ZAMBIA
In 1924, the British took control over Zambia from the BSA Company. By this time, large scale copper deposits had been found in the center of the country, in what was known as the copper belt. The copper mining idea became a success. Some Zambians were tortured during slavery. Some Christian’s beliefs were mixed with African cultures.
In 1959, Zambia had its first boycott and became independent in 1964. Kaunda’s first priority was to fix the roads and buildings that the British had poorly neglected.
