A BRIEF HISTORY OF DJIBOUTI:
The French people colonized Djibouti. People wanted to go to Djibouti
because Djibouti had a major trade way.
Colonization hurt Djibouti in 1967-1975. The Suez Canal shut down during that time. The Suez Canal went down for a period of time because there were conflicts between Egypt and Israel. The conflicts hurt the continuance of Djibouti as a seaport.
Djibouti became independent in 1977. Most of Djibouti actually voted against independence. The reason that Djibouti did not want to become independent was because France offered aid and economic and military security. Ten years of terrorism and political unrest went through and then Djibouti became independent.
