A BRIEF HISTORY OF UGANDA:
The British government colonized Uganda. This means Great Britain controlled the territory. The royal authority of the Buganda Kabaka and other regional kings were kept. The Europeans treated the people well educating and then employing them in civil service. People from the north, like the Acholi, were recruited in the army. They were looking for a country to seize.
Self- government was achieved in 1958, and won full independence in 1962. Uganda remained a single nation but with a federal system of government. Though Uganda is not yet a country at peace, it has greatly changed since the days of Idi Amin, and basic human rights have been restored.
