A BRIEF HISTORY OF ZIMBABWE
Zimbabwe was colonized by the British in the 1890’s The British forced the Africans to work the mines and work on farms in order to pay heavy taxes in cash. The British was also looking for gold.
The colonization hurt the indigenous people. It hurt them because they were forced into bondage (slavery) and were forced to work on white-owned land. In the 1980’s Robert Mugabe of ZANU prime minister gave them their independence.
