A BRIEF HISTORY OF SIERRA LEONE
The European nation that colonized Sierra Leone is Great Britain. They sent the indigenous people to the America’s as slaves.
The colonization hurt the indigenous people by slavery which went on for 200 years. It encouraged rivalry against tribes so they wouldn’t get along, and wouldn’t let the slaves get a good education or good jobs.
This country won its independence on April 27, 1961. Sierra Leone was granted independence.
