A BRIEF HISTORY OF GABON
My country was colonized by the French in 1910. The French used Gabon’s forests for their own timber, and made slaves out of the people of Gabon. Whole communities were forced to move into forest areas to collect rubber and other forest products. Many died of malnutrition and disease.
Gabon’s people got their independence in 1849. After their independence, in 1960 they formed political parties by their president Leon M’ba.
