7th Grade B Team Impressive in Win over Wiley

The Benold Eagles swept the Wylie Middle school 7th grade starting with an impressive win by the “B” Team, 22 -6.  Austin Barrett started the scoring with a solid 6 yard run up the middle in the first quarter.  Conversion failed.  Additionally, Andrew Johnson scored for Benold on a long 40 yard run.  Trevor Jones added the 2 point conversion.   Before the half, the Wylie “B” team scored with a long 80 yard touchdown run, but the 2 point conversion was denied.   In the second half, Benold scored once again by Austin Barrett with a 3 yard run while Trevor Jones completed the 2 point conversion.  Final score 22-6, giving the Benold “B” team a 2-1 record. 

 

7th Grade A Team Rallies, Overcomes Wiley

The nightcap game between the Benold and Wylie  “A” teams determined to be a tough defensive battle.  Wylie scored in the first half with a 3rd down and long situation.  A 20 yard pass proved too much for the Benold Eagles.  However, the 2 point pass conversion failed.  Going into the half, Benold was down 6-0.  After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Benold struck in the 4th quarter with 4:23 left to play with a 75 yard touchdown screen pass from Wade Harris to Jordan Haas.  The decisive win came when Jace LaCaille scored the 2 point conversion with a powering left side sweep.  On the pursuing possession, Benold stopped Wylie on downs which allowed the Benold Eagles to run the clock to a final score of 8-6.  Benold raises their record to 2-1.  Next opponent for Benold is Cedar Park at Cedar Park Middle School Stadium.  

8th Grade "B" vs. Wiley Coyotes

The game got started with a bang when #38 Jack Walters recovered a fumble on the 3yd. line. #24 Drew Willoughby rushed in for first Georgetown TD of the night. Wiley's offense was forced out on 4th and long. Noah Douglas ran 37 yds. on a short pass from #12 Cory Ramos. Benold was forced to punt. Even though#9 Brandon Lugo was pressured, he got the punt away. Wiley started their drive on the 5 yd. line. #41 Stephen Mitchell tackled Wiley's QB in the endzone for a safety. Benold goes up 8-0 at the half. Willoughby continued to gain 1st downs. QB #15 Kyle Blackman threw a beautiful pass to #85 Dan Richards, who scores for the Eagles. Great tackles were made by #88 Chris Martinez, #41 Stephen Mitchell, #72 Chris Herman, #38 Jack Walters, and #43 Noah Douglas. Wiley finally scored in the 4th quarter. Benold "B" wins 14-6, improving their record to 3-0 for the season.

8th Grade "A" vs. Wiley Coyotes

Benolds "A" team continued to work hard, but could not get enough points on the board. Key tackles came from #27 Adam Sandoval, #87 Jacob Vick and #82 D'andre Day. #25 Lucas Hermanson made plenty of rushing gains, but never could get in the endzone. #14 Brandon Boone played Quarterback, returned punts, made defensive tackles, intercepted the football and even held the ball for the Field Goal kicker. Nothing was working for the eagles. The only TD for Benold came on a pass to #87 Jacob Vick. #3 Ramirez, with his signature red cleats, was amazing, both in punting and kicking the ball. #27 Sandoval sacked the Wiley QB which lead to Boone's interception. The final score was 7-26, Wiley winning over Georgetown.
