Benold Eagles 7th Grade "A" report:

The Benold Eagles stepped up their level of play this week with a 40-0 rout of Leander Middle School. While Leander was short on players this week the Eagles took control early in the game and never let up. The first quarter started with a 4 and out for Leander and Georgetown taking over on Leander's 40yd line. 3 plays later Jaice Lacaille scampered 10 yards for Georgetown's first score of the night. The second quarter found Georgetown with the ball on their own 41. This time the Eagles took 5 plays to move the score to 16-0. Another quick 4 downs and a punt from Leander gave the mighty Eagles the ball one last time before half. It didnt take long either! QB Wade Harris scampered to his left and hit RB Jordan Haas for a short pass that Haas took 16 yards to the end zone for the third TD of the evening for the Eagles. With a succesful 2 point conversion the score at halftime was Georgetown 24 and Leander 0.

The second half was more of the same as the Eagles received the kick off and marched down the field in 9 plays to score once more and move the score board to 32-0. The drive was highlighted by 22 and 18 yards runs by Lacaille, a 14 yards dash by Harris and a 10 yard sprint by Haas. The final quarter did see Georgetown score one last time as RB Jordan Haas rushed for 31 yards in 2 plays for a quick score. Final score was 40-0.

Stat leaders for the week: Passing and catching: QB Wade Harris 1-1 for 16yds; QB Mitchell Smith 0-1. Catching: RB Haas 1 reception for 16yds. Rushing leaders: RB Jordan Haas 10 carries for 114 yards (scored 2 touchdowns); RB Jaice Lacaille 7 carries for 99 yards (scored 3 touchdowns); RB Kolton Hoehn 2 carries for 42 yards. Tackles: DL Tyler Preston 4 tackles; LB Jaice Lacaille 4 tackles; OLB Mitchell Smith 3 tackles/1 blocked punt. Punting: P Hank Northcutt 1 for 33 yards.

8th Grade "B" vs. Leander

Even though the Leander Lions jumped out to an early lead scoring first, Benold wasted no time getting on the board. #32 Juan Mitchell was a bull dozer on offense. He was plowing down defensive players right and left. He scored the first touchdown and the conversion points. With 26 seconds left in the first quarter and an approaching storm, #15 Kyle Blackman threw a gorgeous pass to #85 Dan Richards in the pouring rain, making the score 14-6. After a 30 minute rain delay, the "B" team took the filled with #12 Cory Ramos as the quarterback. Leander scored again, but were denied the conversion points again. #48 Blake Boyd made a big run to gain a first down. #85 Dan Richards scored a Touchdown on a reverse pitch from Juan Mitchell. On the kickoff, #22 Brett Gindler stuck the kick-returner at the 5 yd. line. #36 Peter Ochoa made an interception and ended the 3rd quarter 22-12. With only 41 seconds left in the game, Blake Boyd scored a rushing touchdown. Juan Mitchell followed with the 2pt. Conversion, ending the game 30-12. B team betters their record to 5-0.

 

8th Grade "A" vs. Leander

Benold “A“ team came out ready to take their first victory. #5 Pat Bueno made the Eagles first touchdown, bouncing off the dog pile and running 20 yds. Kicker #3 Paco Ramirez made good with the extra point. #27 Adam Sandavol made several great tackles. QB #14 Brandon Boone passed to #42 Blair Murski for a 1st down to end the 1st quarter 7-0. #10 Matt Sanchez scored another touchdown with the extra point by #3 Ramirez. #40 Tory Dominguez made a tackle and #82 D’Andre Day returned a punt for 18yds. #20 Jean-Luc Parker made several gains, getting Benold in scoring territory. Benold made another touchdown with Ramirez kicking for the extra point. Eagles were ahead at halftime 21-0. Boone completed a pass to Day for a 1st down, but #7 Tanner Titlow made the final Eagle touchdown ending the game 28-8.
