8th Grade “B” vs. Henry Hawks
Benold started their season with a BIG win over the Henry Hawks. #24 Drew Willoughby was all over the field with carry after carry. QB Cory Ramos handed off to Willoughby for a 37 yd. TD in the first few minutes. Drew also dove across the line for the conversion. #15 Kyle Blackman had an 80 yd. interception which led to the 2nd touchdown of the half. #48 Blake Boyd received a 10 yd. TD pass from Kyle several plays later. Willoughby ran in the conversion again. The Half ended with the Eagles leading 16-8. The 3rd quarter buzzer rang while Drew was already in motion and the Henry Hawks gave up as he ran 20 easy yards to the end zone. In the 4th Quarter #29 Zach Penland made an interception. That set up the TD run by #44 Dylan Reagan. #88 Chris Martinez made another interception on the Hawk’s first possession back on offense leading to the final rushing touchdown by Willoughby. Final score was 38-8.
8th Grade “A” vs. Henry Hawks
The Benold A team had some powerful plays in their first game, but struggled getting into the end zone. #82 D’Andre Day returned a punt 20 yards and #14 Brandon Boone completed some awesome passes. #27 Adam Sandavol and #10 Matt Sanchez made a lot of great tackles. At the end of the first Quarter the game was scoreless. #43 Noah sacked the Hawks QB and Boone continued to make good passes. #40 Tory Domiguez rushed 3 straight plays in a row, but the half ended with the score still 0-0. Henry came out strong after halftime and scored. Tory ran 30 yds. on the kickoff return and the eagles were headed in the right direction. #6 Drake Grigsby and #8 Chris Patschke both made receptions in scoring territory. Finally, Boone connected with Day in the end zone with a 40yd. TD pass but it was called back on a clipping penalty. The game ended 0-6.
