Traveling in Europe
A Sixth Grade Pathfinder

Most students have taken a trip to the mall, gone to Austin or San Antonio. Some  have relatives in other parts of Texas and even other states that they visit occasionally. A few have extended family and friends in Mexico. For the majority Europe is an ocean away and known primarily through television, current events, and perhaps a bit of family lore.

This unit provides students with the opportunity to become familiar with one European country, to study its geography and demographics. Is it smaller than Texas but have more people? Is it dry like El Paso, humid like Houston, wooded like East Texas, or hilly like Central Texas? What language or languages are spoken? Do the majority of the people get to go to school and learn to read and write? Check the assignment below for all of the questions that must be answered.

As they become virtual tourists, students will also learn something of a country's history and culture and how certain events have influenced the present day. Again, check the assignment below for exact information requirements.

Bon Voyage! Have a great trip!
