Acknowledgements from T.E.A.

Benold Middle School
recently received four Gold Performance
Acknowledgements from the Texas Education Agency based on
our 2007 TAKS
scores for Commended Performance in Reading, Commended
Performance in Writing, Commended Performance in Social
Studies, and
Comparable Improvement in Math.
To receive Commended Performance in a subject area, we had to have at least 25%
or more of All Students and each student
subgroup that we are held accountable for score at or above a
2400 (roughly equivalent to an “A”) on the TAKS test.
To receive Comparable Improvement, we must have an average
Texas Growth Index within the top quartile (25%) of our 40
member campus comparison group.
We
are very proud of this accomplishment and the recognition
from the state. In 2004 we did not receive any
acknowledgements and in 2005 we received three Gold
Performance Acknowledgements for Attendance, Commended
Reading, and Comparable Improvement in Reading. In
2006 we received four Gold Performance Acknowledgements for
commended Reading, Commended Writing, commended Social
Studies and commended math. Our
students and staff are making great progress in academic
student achievement and are to be commended for their
efforts.
CONGRATULATIONS!!

Benold PTA Awarded Grant
For Outdoor Concession Stand
|
 |
| Benold PTA is proud to announce that
they were awarded $5000 from the
Lowe's Toolbox for Education grant
for an outdoor concession stand for Benold. This is a competitive
grant program that is funded by the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational
Foundation, which has supported thousands of grassroots community and
school projects in the communities where Lowe’s does business. This
project will allow Benold to increase parent involvement and build
stronger community spirit by working as a team to create a much needed
concession stand. This permanent building will be used during football
games, tennis matches, track and field events, and for storage of
other Benold athletic team concession equipment. We look forward to a
great working partnership between our Benold PTA, coaches, staff,
parent volunteers, and the GISD Maintenance Department to make this
project a huge success!
