Substitute Teaching

Looking for a flexible work schedule, and a chance to make a difference?  Georgetown Independent School District's substitute teachers are a vital element in the success of our students.  We are always looking for qualified substitutes to join our team.  In order to become a substitute teacher, you must hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.  In addition, you will need to complete an application and attend a substitute orientation session.   Once you are accepted as a GISD substitute teacher, our automated system will contact you with available assignments, based on the preferences you provide to us.  You can select days of the week you wish to substitute and specific schools or grade levels.

Substitute Pay

Substitutes are paid a daily rate based on their assignment and Texas teaching certification status:

  • $60.00/day for a substitute with a High School Diploma or GED

  • $70.00/day for a substitute with a Bachelor's Degree

  • $80.00/day for a substitute with a valid Texas Teaching Certificate or RN

  • $90.00/day for a long-term substitute with a valid Texas Teaching Certificate or RN
