The City of Georgetown
A "Safe Place"
They came to our school
November 8, 2007 for your child's P.E. class.

Stefon Reyes goes for a ride with his dad, Jose.
|

Now that's what I call high giving someone a lift. |

Mike and Adrian talk about their city street sweeper.
|

Jose and Bob talk about their electrical basket truck. |

Chris and Barbara demonstrate what this machine can do to an
aluminum can if it comes down on it.
|

Thanks Barbara and Chris for the crushing demonstration of why we
should stay away from this kind of machine. |

This is one of the two symbols that let the kids know it is a Safe Place
vehicle.
|

This is the City symbol that should also be on the safe vehicle. |

Thanks Georgetown City Workers for coming and sharing about Safe Place.
The are right to left Adrian Rose, Bob Ward, Jose Reyes, Gabriel
Dominguez,
Mike Pilon, and Chris Graham. Top Row are Jana Kern and Barbara
Galaviz.

Employees from the City of Georgetown came and
talked to all of our classes about how they can assist students if they need
help. The main things they talked about are listed below.
-
Only approach a WHITE city vehicle that
has 2 stickers on it. One will be the Safe Place hand and the other is the
City of Georgetown symbol. They have received training to help you if they
have these stickers. They will call the police for help for you.
-
Wave with one hand to say "HI" but use two
hands and wave really big if you need help. Also stand by the curb, not in
the street.
-
Don't ever go around the equipment they have
with only one sticker on it or if it is surrounded by cones.
Thanks for coming to see us and being a valuable
part of our city.
