  3. If your clothes catch on fire don't run, COVER YOUR FACE WITH YOUR HANDS AND STOP, DROP, AND ROLL.

  4. Call 911 in case of a fire or emergency, from a neighbors house not yours if it is on fire.

  5. Know your address and phone number.

  6. Practice EDITH.  Exit Drills In The Home.  Have practice fire drills with you family at home.  Know at least 2 ways to exit your room.

  7. Have a meeting place outside of your house to meet at incase of a fire.

  8. Make sure there is are smoke detectors located in the proper places in your house.

FIRE PREVENTION AND SAFETY

Here are some of the things we learned during Fire Safety Week.

If your clothes should catch on fire you should -

  1. STOP -    immediately

  2. DROP -    to the ground

  3. ROLL -     over and over back and forth

  4. COOL -     with water

  5. CALL  -    911 for help

How can you be prepared for a fire in your house?

  1. Draw a floor plan of your house and the escape routes.

  2. Have smoke detectors in your house and check the batteries regularly.

  3. Have practice fire drills.

  4. Have a meeting place.

  5. Know your name, address, and telephone number and how to report an emergency.

When your smoke detector goes off at night, you should -

  1. ROLL - off of your bed to the ground.

  2. FEEL -  the door with the back of your hand.

  3. DON'T GO - out it if it is hot, use another exit, like the window or another door.

  4. GO TO - your meeting place.

  5. CALL - 911

Remember, children should never play with matches or lighters.  You should tell a responsible adult if you find them.  Parents keep them out of reach of your children.

FIRE IS DANGEROUS.  NEVER PLAY AROUND OR WITH FIRE.   IT CAN KILL.

Click on this link to see the form we sent home to help the children learn their address and phone number.
