Marathon Kids

Marathon Kids is a running program here in the Austin area that we participate in at Carver.  It involves running, or walking and keeping track of the mileage.  We run once a week here at Carver and keep track of how far each student runs.  The running or walking you do at home also counts towards the mileage.  The goal is to have run 26.2 miles, which equals a marathon before the end.  We have had over 100 kids each of the last 4 years participate.    Students who finish the mileage will receive a Marathon Kids T-Shirt and if they go to the Final Mile they receive a very nice medal.

We are currently sending home the note and talking to the students about it.  Be sure and register with us by returning the permission slip we sent home.  Please note the important dates for Marathon Kid's below.  There is also a link to their website below.

WAY TO GO MARATHON KIDS!

We have completed this years Marathon Kids program and had a good response.  We had a small group of students who went to the Final Mile and they are pictured below.  We also just finished giving out about 100 shirts to those students who finished their 26.2 miles on time.  We hope to have a picture of them soon but we just handed out the shirts and will try and get them to wear them on the same day and take a group picture.  Thanks go out to all the parents who registered their child and participated in this years event.  We will be doing it again next year.
