PLAYGROUND SAFETY

We have covered the following rules and other things during P.E. class.  We ask that you make sure your child is aware of them and follows our Playground Rules to help keep everyone safe while playing here at Carver.

bullet

Swings - Our swings are made for swinging.  Please only one person swing at a time, and swing only straight ahead.  No climbing the poles.  No tricks (i.e. twisting, jumping, double swinging, standing in the swing).

bullet

Slide - Slide down one at a time on your bottom.  No going up the slide or climbing on the outside.  No jumping off of the slide.  One person at a time at the top.

bullet

Hanging Bars - These bars are made for hanging on and not sitting or standing on.  Everyone should go in one direction when going from one side to the other.  Any other kind of playing is dangerous.  You should not sit on the top of them.

bullet

Playscape - No jumping off of the playscape.  No walking around the outside of the railing.  Walk on the cat walk, up and down the pretend rocks and ladders.  No playing chase or running on the playscape.

bullet

Boundaries - Stay inside the boundaries of the playing area.  These boundaries have changed due to the construction.  We will be covering this in P.E. class.  We want all students to stay away from the portable classroom.

bullet

Gym Pillars - Do not play on or go under these structures.

bullet

Tether Ball - We will have Tetherball poles out at Recess after the first few days of school.  We ask that all students follow the procedures we teach them during P.E. so all can play and play correctly.  They need to line up at the cone with a partner to play.  When someone grabs the rope the other person gets a free serve.  When the ball touches the pole or if they have been there a long time its time to let the next two play.

bullet

Equipment - Stays on the blacktop.  Use equipment correctly.  No swinging ropes over your head like a helicopter.  Do not put hula hoops around others and pull them.  Only one student per hula hoop.  Use equipment in designated areas.

bullet

Play Nicely - No tackle football, no picking up rocks or sticks and no throwing them.  No climbing trees.  Play soccer or any other game by the rules decided upon by the group playing and play in the designated areas.

bullet

Tag Games - Running tag games are not allowed during recess.  In the past we have had too many problems arise becuase of this so we ask the students not to chase other students or play chase games at recess.

DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP AT ALL TIMES!
