Hello, my name is Rebecca Nolen. I
am a Kindergarten teacher at Carver Elementary. This is my third
year in Georgetown ISD and my eighth year teaching.
I am originally from Pasadena, Texas
(just south of Houston). Most of my family still lives in that same
general part of Houston, and most of my family are teachers. My
mother jokes that when I played school as a child, I used the teacher's
editions -- and she's not wrong.

I graduated from Southwestern
University here in Georgetown. (That's also where I met my husband,
Jeremy.) I love being here in Georgetown close to my Alma Mater.
I guess once you've lived here for four years, there's just no other
place that feels quite like home.

I started teaching in 2002. My
first teaching assignment was 3rd grade in Bastrop, Texas. I have also
taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade in Round Rock, Texas.
I live here in Georgetown with my
husband and our children. My husband, Jeremy works for Dell.
My daughter, Sydney will be turning three this year and my son, Jack
will be one at the end of the school year.

I enjoy reading, working on projects on the computer (like this webpage), and photography. My favorite books are children's literature, with a close second being mystery novels. My favorite photography subjects are my children. My philosophy of education is to help children explore and discover as much as they can on their own, to be there for them when they do need more direct guidance, and to help instill in them a lifelong love of learning.
