ParentCONNECT
ParentCONNECT is a web-based program that helps a parent keep track of their child's academic progress on
a "near real time" basis (usually within 24 hours). With a ParentCONNECT account and Internet access, a
parent will be able to monitor their scholar's grades on assignments and
tests, report card grades, attendance record, residence and mailing
addresses, and emergency contact information. Please click
here to find out more information on a special ParentCONNECT sign up
and tutorial session to take place Tuesday, September 20, 2008 from 5:00
PM - 8:00 PM at the GISD Central Office. If a parent already
set up a ParentConnect account last year, the account is still active.
For a parent who has not set up an account in the past, please click on the ParentCONNECT
link at the bottom of this article, or click on the link in the left
column of this page. Click on the Register button on the ParentCONNECT web page. Complete the online registration form, and then
for security reasons, come by the Cooper office and complete the
verification form with photo identification. Office personnel will
verify a parent's registration and issue a UserID and password for
accessing their scholar's information. The ParentCONNECT web site
contains more information and a frequently asked questions link.
Parents may contact us at
parentconnect@georgetownisd.org if assistance is needed or if
questions remain. A parent that has a child at another GISD
campuses will be able to visit those schools to add
other children to their ParentCONNECT account. The District's ParentCONNECT web site is available
24 hours a day on the Internet. Please click here, or on
the ParentCONNECT link in the left column to initiate the registration
process or to view additional information.
VOLUNTEER

individual who plans to assist in supervising children other than their
own during a school sponsored event, must complete and pass a volunteer
background check in advance. This is an annual process that is completed
by the individual online. Please go to the Cooper website homepage
and click on "Volunteer Background Check" in the left border. Or
go to the GISD website homepage and click on "Volunteer Form" in the
center of the bottom of the page. Or you may click on the
following link which should take you directly to the forms..
http://www.georgetownisd.org/career/volunteers.htm
Approximately 24 to 48 hours after completing and submitting the form,
Mrs. Allman receives notification of the results. Please contact
her as she maintains an updated list of approved volunteers.
COOPER "SCHOLARS"
The children that attend Cooper Elementary are being taught scholarly
values and behaviors. These values and behaviors are
embedded into every aspect of the school day. The Cooper Scholars
are encouraged to incorporate these values and behaviors into their daily life and
to elevate their effort and performance here at school, at home, and in
the community.
NUTRITIONAL STANDARDS
The faculty and staff of Cooper
Elementary adheres to the high nutritional standards set by the GISD
Board. The standards do provide for three "food of minimal
nutritional value exempt days." These three days are December 19,
2008 for the Holiday Celebration, February 13, 2009 for the Valentine's
Day Celebration, and June 2, 2009 for the End Of Year Celebration.
Scholars still have nourishing lunches these days, but Homeroom
Celebrations allow for refreshments and snacks that are not normally
permitted.
EXXON GRANT RECEIVED
Pat Cooper Elementary
School has received a $500 grant from the ExxonMobil Educational
