additional restrooms and front and rear outdoor covered walkways were completed
in 2006. The enrollment for 2007-08 is approximately 580 scholars from
Kinder to Fifth Grade. Cooper Elementary is staffed by approximately 70

The school was named for
Patricia Webb Cooper, who was a teacher in the Georgetown I.S.D. for ten years
before her death in 1997. Mrs. Cooper had taught fourth grade at Carver Elementary, Williams
Elementary, and Pickett Elementary in Georgetown, Texas. She was educated at
Southwestern University in Georgetown, where she was selected as student teacher
of the year, an honor that was repeated when she was voted as Williams
Elementary Teacher of the Year in 1995.
Pat was a wonderful teacher who truly cared about the children she taught.
She used her sense of humor, love of learning and of life, musical talent,
creativity, and energy to make learning come to life for her students.
Pat's caring for others was demonstrated in many ways. She was the sponsor
for TAME (Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering,) and her TAME club at
Pickett won a state award for excellence. She was also active in the community
music through her churches in Brenham, where she grew up, as well as in
Georgetown.
In addition to being a teacher, Mrs. Cooper was a wife, mother, friend, and a
mentor to many co-workers. Her beautiful spirit lives on in the hearts of the
people whose lives she touched; and Patricia Webb Cooper Elementary School is
very proud to be named for such a fine educator and special person.
