Summer 2009 Professional Development


Georgetown ISD Faculty and Staff are encouraged to participate in district-provided professional development. Employees should participate in a minimum of 3 days of professional development to compensate for October 2, 2009, November 25, 2009, and April 2, 2010 as identified on the 2009-2010 GISD District Calendar. Professional development is divided into four strands:

1. District Focus - These training sessions focus on identified district initiatives.

2. Curriculum Focus - Training opportunities in this strand include curriculum professional development focused on content specific sessions.

3. Statutory Focus - Please read this section carefully and discuss any training requirements that you may need with your principal, especially with regards to certification or your specific program content area.

4. Optional Focus - These training opportunities focus on personal development in several areas, but especially in the technology area.

On inservice dates listed on the 2009-2010 District Calendar, the focus for Georgetown ISD will be horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment. Registration for these sessions is not yet open, but sessions will be available for sign-up soon.
